HDA · Hospitality Development Arabia

Building hospitality and food businesses, capabilities and institutions for Saudi Arabia.

HDA is a Saudi development and operating platform focused on hospitality, food, culinary education and related ventures.

We identify opportunities, develop the commercial and operating model, bring together the right technical partners, build the capability required to execute, and remain involved as businesses move from concept into operation and growth.

01About

What HDA is

HDA was created as a permanent platform for developing businesses, operating capability and long-term value in Saudi hospitality and food.

HDA works between strategy and execution. It shapes the commercial case and stays close to the kitchen, the supply chain, the people and the systems that decide whether a business performs once it opens.

Depending on the venture, HDA may act as

  • Founder and developer
  • Parent company
  • Strategic sponsor
  • Operating and capability-building partner
  • Technical partnership coordinator
  • Advisor to investors and operators

The role HDA takes, and the legal structure behind it, is set venture by venture. Not every business or initiative is structured the same way.

02Background

Built on operating experience

HDA is built on more than 30 years of executive, commercial and operational experience, combined with professional culinary training and direct hospitality-sector experience.

  • Executive leadership
  • Business development
  • Operations
  • New venture development
  • Investment and commercial strategy
  • Hospitality
  • Food and beverage
  • Culinary education
  • Restaurant development

HDA approaches strategy through operating reality. A plan earns its place only when it holds up against cost, labour, supply, standards and the daily discipline of service.

What does it take to make the business work in the real world?

03What we build

Three areas of work

HDA builds new ventures, the people who run them and the systems that hold them together.

3.1

Venture Development

A venture moves through nine stages. HDA can lead or support each one, and brings in technical partners where the venture needs them.

  3. 03Business model
  4. 04Technical partnerships
  5. 05Operating design

  7. 07Management capability
  8. 08Launch

3.2

Culinary Education & Workforce

Professional culinary education, chef development, international technical partnerships and Saudi workforce capability. The aim is a deeper pool of Saudi talent with the skills, standards and judgement that professional kitchens require.

3.3

Hospitality Systems & Advisory

Direct work with owners, investors and operators on the commercial and operational detail of a hospitality business.

  • Concept development
  • Commercial and operating models
  • Restaurant development
  • Kitchen and production systems
  • Procurement and cost control
  • Workforce planning
  • Training
  • Operating standards
  • Launch preparation
  • Strategic partnerships
